Portrait of Satoshi Nakamoto #1

The original search for Satoshi Nakamoto, the original Pulp Comic defining the beginnings of the "web3" Metaverse by the artist who goes by the pseudonym "Big Comic."

The work combines original and some of the most sought after hand-made paintings and internet culture (memes, gifs) into one of the most cutting-edge art collections available today. The work uses thought provoking commentary (w/ humor) on our human condition, and is collected in over 100+ countries both physically (as traditional paintings) and digitally (using Non Fungible Tech). It is now a world-renowned collection in the span of 7 years that is ever expansive and immutable.

The collection has been acquired by some of the most brilliant companies, individuals and institutions of web3. Shown across evening news channels, raised on billboards 40 feet tall, muraled in public display, and shown physically across a broad range of several exhibitions. It has raised money for several charitable causes. Recently, the work has been showcased in collaboration with the Dminti and Metaversal organizations, that includes Jennifer Stockman a Former Guggenheim President, Shalom Meckenize, founder of Draftkings for the NFL, Dominique Levy, a International Gallerist in NY, Paris and HK, Mark Lemley, a Leading Professor at Standford Law school, and many other brilliant minds.

Welcome to the Big Comic Art gallery application. This platform serves as a digital and physical hub designed to showcase the genre-defining works of Big Comic, bridging the gap between traditional fine art and the rapidly evolving web3 Metaverse. The app offers a comprehensive interactive experience, allowing users to explore high-fidelity digital assets, interactive 3D galleries, and historical timelines of the collection's growth.

Who is this for? This application is built for art collectors, digital art enthusiasts, blockchain technology advocates, and anyone fascinated by the intersection of internet culture and fine art. Whether you are an experienced collector looking to acquire new pieces, a historian tracking the evolution of NFT art, or a curious newcomer, this platform provides the tools and context needed to immerse yourself in the Big Comic universe.

Who builds it? This platform is continuously developed and maintained by the Big Comic Art technical team in collaboration with the artist himself. We leverage cutting-edge web technologies, immersive 3D rendering, and blockchain integrations to ensure that the viewing and collecting experience remains as innovative and immutable as the artwork it hosts.

The work, the chain and the record

I'm a painter first. The value starts at the easel, with the paint, the composition and the idea. The blockchain doesn't create that value, and it can't rescue a weak work. But it is more than a receipt.

A real-world asset. When a physical canvas is paired with a token, the object gets a public, verifiable identity. The painting is still the asset, and the chain gives it a passport that is hard to forge.

Proof of the work. Every mint, sale and resale is timestamped and permanent. The record runs from 2019 to today, work by work, and anyone can read it at superrare.com/bigcomic. At the time of writing it shows 126 sales across 98 works, from more than 70 buyer wallets, including at least 33 resales between collectors.

Legitimacy from evidence. I didn't wait for a gallery or an institution to decide the work mattered. I painted it, put it on-chain and let collectors decide. Their resales, and the prices they paid, are public. Some works have changed hands four or five times, and I have bought some back myself.

More than paint can do. "Masked" was wired to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 dashboard, so the mask changed with the data. The token was part of the artwork, not a certificate for it.

Sales figures are from SuperRare's public records only. Past sales are not a forecast, and art can fall as well as rise.
